Subject: RE: Metro Ridership
Everybody,
I have had several fruitful conversations with WMATA officials throughout the day and they said they would try to get me the ridership information, along with more information about how they reached their projected savings, by tomorrow. They also stressed that the proposed budget cuts actually go further than are needed so the public input will play a large role in which cuts are carried out. We need to keep working on getting people to submit their comments online or in person. I spoke last night at the forum in Lanham, but was not able to get an e-mail out in time to mobilize Cheverly residents. The individuals I spoke with at WMATA ensured me that written testimony submitted to the website would be evenly weighed, but putting a face on the opposition is never bad.
In the coming days, probably early next week, I am working on organizing a meeting with town officials, WMATA and MDOT officials and other decision makers. I’m still in session and its very busy since there is just over a week to go, however I am going to try to pass out information at the Cheverly Metro on how to make a public comment in the coming days. I will keep you posted.
Victor R.
