Metro's budget threatens to close the Cheverly metro station

WMATA 's proposed budget completely closes our Cheverly Metro on weekends. All three proposed weekend closures take place either in Southeast Washington or Prince George's County. The stops affected are Deanwood, Cheverly and Morgan Avenue. Obviously this would have a devastating impact on Cheverly and the surrounding areas.

Please spread the word and ask people to complete the survey and to send e-mail written testimony to public-hearing-testimony@wmata.com. Submissions must be received by 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 6.

There are also going to be public hearings on April 1st at two locations. They are:

All Souls Unitarian Church, Pierce Hall
7 p.m.
1500 Harvard Street, NW
Washington, DC

Montgomery County Executive Office Building, Cafeteria
7 p.m.
101 Monroe Street (entrance on Jefferson Street)
Rockville, MD

The loss of service on the weekends will have a terrible effect on the community and we need to work together to stop it!
